Brief Description of the DDSO: |
Central New York Developmental Disabilities Services Office (DDSO) is an agency of the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities. It provides individualized services for people with developmental disabilities and their families in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison Lewis, Onondaga, Oswego, Cortland, and Cayuga Counties. Central New York DDSO works in partnership with families, voluntary agencies, and local governments to design, develop, and deliver programs and services that meet the needs of each individual and his or her family.

Volunteerism is an important part of Central New York DDSO. Throughout the organization, volunteers greatly enhance the quality of life for people we support by enjoying common interests, exploring new ventures, or sharing in skill development. Opportunities are available to students, adults, seniors, and groups or organizations. We also recognize that people with developmental disabilities have much to give to their communities, and we welcome opportunities for them to volunteer as well.
