Private sector (voluntary) agencies offer services to help individuals with developmental disabilities live satisfying and independent lives.Employment opportunities in the private sector are not filled through competitive Civil Service examinations, but are filled through agency-specific applications.Each voluntary agency recruits and hires at their own facility.

NYS Employment Opportunities within OMRDD
OMRDD operates 14 Developmental Disabilities Services Offices (DDSO's) throughout New York State, employing approximately 23,000 staff who provide services to 140,000 individuals with developmental disabilities across the state. Each DDSO recruits and hires at their respective facility, in accordance with state and federal laws and pursuant to New York State Civil Service guidelines.
