Welcome to NYACTS, a website designed to provide current information on New York State services and supports for individuals with autism. Autism is on the rise in New York State and around the country. It is estimated that more than 60,000 New York State residents have a diagnosis of autism or autism spectrum disorders (ASDs) and that the incidence of autism could reach 4 million Americans in the next decade.   • Recent estimates from the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention indicate that one out of every 110 American 8-year-olds may have an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
  • Boys are four times more likely to have autism than girls.
  • Autism is the fastest growing developmental disability.
  • More children will be diagnosed with autism this year than with cancer, diabetes, Downs Syndrome and AIDS combined.
  • Approximately 1 million individuals in the United States have autism.
